Emergency services were called to the Surf Rider swing at Botton’s amusement park on Grand Parade
Fire crews were forced to use ropes to rescue the group, including adults and children, who became stuck on the ride for more than an hour after the ride “snapped on its axle”.
Officials closed the pleasure beach as several investigations were launched to establish the cause of the incident.
While most of the group escaped unharmed, a woman was rushed to Pilgrim Hospital, in Boston, Lincs, last night suffering life threatening head injuries. A further six people were taken to hospital.
Members of the group suffered “whiplash”, minor bruising and shock after it is believed the ride came to a sudden stop
