FREE ADVERTISING FOR YOUR HAND MADE ITEMS

FROM SUSAN JAMES

FOR MEMBERS THAT SELL HAND MADE PRODUCTS

Obviously from members comments, getting your handcrafted products into retail stores is not easy and  there seems to be lots of people in the same situation.

What I am now prepared to offer to members is the opportunity for you to advertise your hand crafted products of any description (except cards) on my website.

It will be FREE of charge until a product sells, when 20% of your sale price will be retained by me

The process is as follows:

You send me a jpeg image (MUST be jpeg) and a VERY brief description of the item, I will upload it on my website for sale.  Please state the selling price INCLUDING SHIPPING, as someone from another country may buy it and you will have to ship it to them direct.

When the item is sold, the money comes to me, I deduct the 20% sales fee, and send you the order , together with the item details, buyers address , etc  and the balance of the money I owe you. You then despatch the order direct to the buyer

Please note that this is a totally genuine scheme as the person that buys your item will complain to me, NOT you, if their purchase is not delivered.

You must send me your full name and address, and your email address so that I can contact you when an item of yours is sold .

Sellers in the UK will be paid by cheque or Paypal, whichever is preferred

Sellers outside the UK will be paid by Paypal

There will be a separate page(s) on my website for all people joining this scheme.

Any questions, please email me at brjames@btinternet.com

If we all help each other, the group will be worthwhile and all members will benefit

If you wish to take advantage of this opportunity, please do.

Forecasters warn of snow in October

Forecasters warn of snow in October

Dig out your hat and scarf and get ready for an early winter; forecasters are predicting that snow will fall in Britain as early as next month.
Temperatures will fall sharply over the coming months and are forecast to drop below average for the time of year.
Long-range forecasters at Exacta Weather have also said that we should brace ourselves for another brutal winter from December through to February.
James Madden said: "As we head towards winter, I expect to see the first signs of some moderate to heavy snowfalls as early as October or November in certain parts of the UK.
"I expect December, January, and February to experience below-average temperatures, with the heaviest snowfalls occurring within the time frame of November to January across many parts of the UK."
Mr Madden added that the UK will face "prolonged periods of extreme cold and snow from the Arctic regions as cold easterlies or north-easterlies develop".
The Met Office also warned that we should expect colder-than-average nights at the beginning of October, which would bring with them the chance of overnight frosts. The Midlands and the South-east are expected to bear the brunt of the cold snap.
Heavy snowfall and freezing conditions have caused chaos across Britain for the last two winters and it looks like we can expect more of the same this time round.

Memphis must-dos along the mighty Mississippi

Memphis must-dos along the mighty Mississippi

Travel to Memphis - What to Do
Mississippi Madness ... Cornthwaite on his charity paddle
The mighty Mississippi rises in western Minnesota and flows approximately 2,404 miles to the Gulf of Mexico. Along the way it takes in cities such as Minneapolis, St. Louis, Memphis and New Orleans.
One of the most atmospheric cities is Memphis, Tennessee, home of the Blues and the birthplace of rock and roll.
Memphis was home to Elvis Presley and no visit is complete without a visit to Graceland, his former mansion, and Sun Studio where he and many other legends - Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and B.B. King - laid down tracks.
Music aside, there are some great museums in Memphis such as the National Civil Rights Museum at the Lorraine Motel, where visitors can explore exhibits on the Civil Rights Movement and visit the balcony where Martin Luther King was shot. Art lovers can check out the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art, which has a wonderful collection of fine art, as well as the Dixon Gallery and Gardens, which specialises in impressionist and post-impressionist paintings.
Another must-do in Memphis is to explore the Mississippi on a riverboat paddle-wheeler. However, if you are looking to explore the river in a more active way, you could follow the example set by Dave Cornthwaite, who paddled (standing up) for eight hours per day through tropical storms and whirlpools, avoiding alligators, bears, mosquitos and snakes and giving ocean-going ships and barges a wide berth.
The British adventurer set the record for the first unsupported descent of the Mississippi River by Stand Up Paddleboard. His 2,404-mile journey took 82 days to complete. The American media likened Cornthwaite's journey to "Forrest Gump on a Stand Up Paddleboard" and nicknamed him "Stand Up Huck" after the popular Mark Twain character, Huckleberry Finn.
“The Mississippi River is one of the most iconic waterways in the world, what an education to have seen every inch of it,” said Cornthwaite.
He undertook the challenge to raise funds for the AV Foundation and CoppaFeel, as well as to widen awareness for water conservation through the Blue Climate and Oceans Project, for which he is an ambassador

Bells ring out in Victorian Benington
Boston. Saturday 10 September 2011 Benington Church Victorian themed Open Day
THE bells rang from Benington’s church for the first time in eight years at the weekend.

More than 500 people turned out to the Victorian-themed open day at All Saints Church, where visitors could come in and have their say about how it will be used in future.
Benington Community Heritage Trust is working on turning the previously disused Grade I listed church into a multi-use community venue.
Visitors, from as far away as New Zealand and London, attended on Saturday and enjoyed scarecrow making, bead and card making, a Victorian sweet shop, a punch and judy show and other attractions, including an evening concert.

Police at Sleaford Road, Boston The man's death is currently being treated as unexplained
A man found dead in a Lincolnshire garden had been stabbed, police said.
The body of the victim, believed to be a local 48-year-old, was discovered on Sleaford Road, Boston, on Sunday morning.
Detectives said they were treating the death as murder, and want to speak to anyone who saw an altercation in the area in the early hours.
In particular they want to trace anyone who saw a group of men and a woman, or a man being chased by several others.
The disturbance is believed to have taken place near the railway crossing and the Carlton Road junction, between 03:00 BST and 04:45 BST.
The man who died is expected to be formally identified later on Monday

NEARLY a third of all drink-driving convictions in Lincolnshire in 2010 were migrant workers

The Lincolnshire Road Safety Partnership yesterday released information which shows that 32 per cent of convictions for driving under the influence of alcohol were foreign nationals.
The figures show that 180 out of a total of around 560 offences, involved those of Polish, Latvian and Lithuanian descent who are living mainly in the Spalding and Boston areas.
The partnership has launched a major poster campaign in the three Eastern European languages aimed at motorists in the Spalding area.
Posters and leaflets will appear on street signs, bus stops, shops, bars and pubs and workplaces frequented by migrants.
Partnership communications officer John Siddle said: “This is probably one of our hardest groups to reach.
“The aim of the campaign is to reduce the occurrences and incidents where foreign drivers are under the influence of drink therefore reducing the risk they pose to other road users.”

Ant and Dec host Simon Cowell's ITV1 gameshow Red or Black?
ITV bosses have axed a further contestant from £1 million gameshow Red or Black? after finding "inconsistencies" during a background check.
The contestant was pulled from Wednesday's edition of the show, hours after two other players were ditched from other forthcoming programmes as show chiefs tightened their checks.
It comes in the wake of the uproar surrounding the award of the top prize to a man who was reportedly jailed for beating up a woman.
Programme chiefs announced on Tuesday that they were tightening checks on criminal convictions and reviewing those who had made it through to the final stages of the show.
So far three contestants - each from different editions - have been axed to avoid any further problems. The editions will continue to go ahead but three of the four programmes will see the number of contestants reduced from eight to seven.
Nathan Hageman, 31, won the first £1 million prize on Simon Cowell's new entertainment show, but concern grew after it emerged he had a violent past.
The bricklayer was initially reported to have been jailed for attacking a man but it has since been disclosed he attacked a woman, thought to be his ex-girlfriend.
An ITV spokesman said: "ITV has reviewed the background checks on remaining contestants from Red or Black?
"As a result of this we have asked producers to remove three contestants from this week's shows. Red or Black? will continue on these occasions with seven, rather than eight, contestants."
He added that ITV Studios, Cowell's production company Syco and the ITV Network were "working closely and collaboratively together to ensure that the show continues its success".

Elvis Presley Co-Star Been Nun For 50 Years

Elvis Presley Co-Star Been Nun For 50 Years

An aspiring actress who kissed Elvis Presley in Loving You and then dropped out of Hollywood has been traced to a remote Connecticut abbey, where she has been a nun for almost 50 years, by a U.S. magazine.

Entertainment Weekly reporter Thom Geier launched a bid to track down Dolores Hart last year (10) - and found her at the Abbey of Regina Laudis in Bethlehem, where she is now known as Mother Dolores.
After kissing Elvis in the 1957 film and making a name for herself opposite stars like Anthony Quinn and Montgomery Clift, the then 24-year-old actress decided Hollywood wasn't for her and she checked into the abbey after attending the premiere of Come Fly With Me in 1963.

She tells the publication, "I had always wanted to be an actress, from the time I was seven years old. But I realised very concretely it was not the call."

The 72-year-old Roman Catholic nun's only links to Hollywood these days comes once a year when she votes for the Academy Awards after becoming an Academy member in 1960.

Skegness fairground ride collapse

Skegness fairground ride collapse leaves woman fighting for life

A woman suffered life-threatening head injuries after a fairground ride collapsed at a popular Lincolnshire seaside amusement park on Tuesday.

Skegness fairground ride collapse leaves woman fighting for life
Emergency services were called to the Surf Rider swing at Botton’s amusement park on Grand Parade
Fire crews were forced to use ropes to rescue the group, including adults and children, who became stuck on the ride for more than an hour after the ride “snapped on its axle”.
Officials closed the pleasure beach as several investigations were launched to establish the cause of the incident.
While most of the group escaped unharmed, a woman was rushed to Pilgrim Hospital, in Boston, Lincs, last night suffering life threatening head injuries. A further six people were taken to hospital.
Members of the group suffered “whiplash”, minor bruising and shock after it is believed the ride came to a sudden stop
